Project activities interaction

After establishment of methodologies for nuclear facilities decontamination and decommissioning and for radioactive waste management, SITON will specify to the partners the necessary requirements and constraints for achievement of each project stage objectives.

SCN Piteşti will develop and adjust technologies for decontamination and radioactive waste management and EDATA will model and optimize the resultant interconnections after decontamination and radioactive waste management.

SCN Piteşti will determine and certify the decontamination technologies and also the treatment and conditioning technologies for radioactive waste from decontamination and for all the waste resulting from the decommissioning activities.

On the basis of data obtained from the other partners, EDATA will model the cost-benefits variants for the decontamination and radioactive waste management methodologies in case of CANDU type power plants and will propose the optimum model.

SITON will achieve safety assessments for all the decontamination and radioactive waste management activities.

Pursuant to information received form partners, SITON will select the optimum technologies for assessment of necessary capacity for radioactive waste treatment and conditioning and for interim storage or disposal. In this way SITON will describe an acceptable variant for decontamination and radioactive waste management which will be integrate in Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Plan.
